October 2025
From 23 to 25 October 2025, the Atelier des Correspondances attended the international synesthesia conference in Alcalá la Real. Nearly fifteen nationalities gathered in this small town in southern Spain, in Andalusia, to explore the links between art, science and perception.
But what exactly is synesthesia?
It is a rare ability where the senses blend together, where a sound can evoke a colour, a letter a taste, or an image a texture.
We were there to interview some of the participants, asking them about their connection to synesthesia, their work related to it, and what brought them to this conference.
Solange Glasser: The reality of a (non-)synesthete
We start those interviews with Solange Glasser, an australian researcher of the university of Melbourne, specialized in music psychology. You can find her work online.
Please note: the interviews were conducted in English. The episodes are also available on Spotify. The episodes are also available on Spotify.

Jasmin Sinha: Bringing people together
Follow us next as we meet Jasmin Sinha, who has been living in Luxembourg for 20 years and has met a large number of synesthetes.
Find her latest book - mentioned in the interview - on Amazon.
Please note: the interviews were conducted in English. The episodes are also available on Spotify.

Ruth Glasser: What if you could taste faces?
Finally, we meet Ruth Glasser, an American history professor who discovered synesthesia only two years ago, despite having explored it her entire life.
Please note: the interviews were conducted in English. The episodes are also available on Spotify.
